1976 MGB Roadster
Fully rebuilt from a
rust-free California shell and converted to RHD; Peter Burgess Stage 1 head;
overdrive; GKN alloys; lowered suspension; many new parts; only 824 miles from
build
As the Heritage Certificate shows, this MGB Roadster was
built in January 1976 in LHD for the American market and was originally Harvest
Gold. It came back from California to the UK in 1993 which is when our vendor
acquired it.
Imported as a totally rust-free rolling shell, it was
then built up into the wonderful specimen you see today. Although there are no
bills for the work carried out, the car speaks for itself and all the trim and
mechanical parts were either new or completely rebuilt when fitted.
The car was repainted in black and converted to RHD. A
Sebring-style front lip spoiler was also fitted along with lowered suspension,
Mountney steering wheel, a new hood and GKN alloy wheels. The engine was
fully rebuilt and fitted with a Peter Burgess Stage 1 gas-flowed cylinder head.
The odometer was set to zero when the car finally went
back on the road in 1997 and it then covered around 800 miles before being put
into storage in 2011. Unearthed earlier this year, it has just been
recommissioned by Prestige MG of Rugeley at a cost of over £1,200. This included
four new Toyo tyres; new battery; new fuel tank; new fuel pump; carburettor
rebuilt; full service with all fluids changed.
Still with only 824 miles under its wheels since the
restoration was completed, it is barely even run-in yet and is in super
condition throughout with an MOT until April 2022 with no advisories recorded.
