Description
1973 Volkswagen Beetle 1303
Super
Comprehensive history of work done between 2014 and
2019; striking yellow colour scheme; driven to the sale; showing 25,000 miles,
although unlikely that this has been the first time!
First
registered in June 1973, this is a 1303 Super, a model updated with
a taller windscreen and a revised front lid. The interior was improved
or simplified too with new rocker switches and a slightly raised central
speedo.
Unfortunately,
we have no knowledge of work done or ownership history in its early days,
but it does appear to have had one registered keeper for a considerable time
from 1996 until 2018, when our vendor acquired the car.
The file of
paperwork shows a considerable amount of work done to it from 2014 until 2018,
costing nearly £2,000, which included new carpets, lots of new chrome, a
complete front side panel, new front and rear aprons and countless seals, pipes
and cables. Shortly after this work was done, it was taken for a ‘look over’ at
a garage in Gloucester who were not that impressed with the work completed on
the car, so they gave DTT 298L a little bit of birthday going over, and the
previous garage concerned footed the bill!
The oil was
changed, the carb was cleaned out and engine tuned, all the bodywork was looked
over and corrected where necessary, rear brake shoes were replaced, new wiper
motor and blades were fitted, offside chassis bolts were re-fitted and the
engine was removed so the clutch assembly could be correctly adjusted and
fitted.
Once the work
above was all completed, it was enjoyed by its owners for a few years and is now
offered at auction as a useable 1970s classic Beetle. Some attention could be
made to the paintwork and maybe the interior if you are a stickler for details,
but if you are after a bright yellow runabout that is always going to get you
noticed, then get clicking, bid away and take her
home…
