1979 Triumph TR7 Coupe
No
Reserve
Three owner coupe for restoration; rolls
freely; considerable history file with original purchase invoice; ideal TR8
conversion opportunity?
Dating from August 1979 this TR7 coupe is finished in
Carmine maroon with matching Red tartan cloth and vinyl trim and looks
gloriously oh-so-70s with those angular lines and black Webasto roof.
Given the recent upwards trend in TR7 coupe values, this
Lot looks to be an enticing project given the car appears complete and
relatively sound atop. Rolling freely as we manoeuvred (pushed!) it around for
these shots it undoubtedly needs work, but its all there however, Bidders please
be aware, No attempt has been made to start the car given it has been in
storage for a few years and the mechanical state is unknown.
Showing just two former keepers on the current V5C and
none on the old style logbook, it looks to be a low owner example showing 28,376
miles, which we believe to be 128,376 looking at the vehicle history.
A look online reveals no MOT test carried out since
digitalisation in 2006, the history file revealing an old MOT dated 2002 at
116,456 miles along with the V5C, old stye logbook and a ream of historic bills
and correspondence from the Triumph club dating back to the early/mid 1980’s. We
also find the original purchase invoice dated August 1979 by Lex Mead of
Stourbridge detailing the optional extras fitted including Alloy-road wheels, an
extra £190 and sunroof costing £105 giving a purchase total of £4739 with a 20%
discount off the purchase price – a nice bit of history to have.
An interesting project with a heap of history – worthy of
a look or perhaps an ideal basis for a TR8 conversion?
