1992 BMW 320i Coupe (E36)

No Reserve

Pulled out of 13 year storage; manual non-sunroof coupe with 2-litre six-cylinder engine; unmolested order

Dating from August 1992 this earlier E36 generation 3-series coupe features the fuel injected M50B20 2.0-litre straight-six developing 148bhp, driving the rear wheels, here through the arguably more appealing and engaging 5-speed manual gearbox.

Finished in Brilliant Red, this coupe has been in our vendor’s hands since February 2005, but has remained unused, in long term storage locally since 2008 from where its come to us. Given this cool coupe has not been run in almost 13 years, we all felt it unwise to attempt to start it without a thorough fuel purge, check over, service and no doubt new battery before any attempt is made to start it. The car does however roll with ease having been professionally stored at a bespoke storage facility with climate control, so the car presents well and is not mouldy etc.

From what we know looking at the paperwork, speaking with the owner and considering the last MOT in February 2007, the mileage is believed to be c.75,000 (74,299 at last MOT, without advisory) the car going into storage not long before the MOT expired.

Inside, we find grey cloth seats, manual temperature control, electric windows and mirrors, face-off stereo and little else – a good simple spec and as a non-sunroof manual car, one likely to appeal to those who race and rally. Sat on its original BMW X-spoke alloys with tall (and likely more comfortable!) sidewall tyres the car looks to be a nice, unmolested example.

The history file includes the V5C, copy old style V5, 2 keys, new, boxed BMW cigarette lighter, BMW glovebox torch, 3 old MOTs dating back to 2006 plus one copy MOT from 2005 at 69,327 miles and a few sundry invoices for bits bought, purchase invoice from 2005 and old HPI report confirming the car was subject to a Category-C write-off in July 2004.

That aside, it looks like a good clean, unmolested car and critically for many a six-pot with manual box, low miles and non-sunroof shell. Given its also No Reserve, we expect the bidding to be vigerous!
