Showing just 81,649 miles, this unusual survivor has managed to
dodge the scrappage scheme that took so many 80s and 90s gems away. Finished in
black with contrasting grey cloth interior, you’re immediately reminded how
simple, uncluttered and airy cars of this era are with thin A and B-pillars
giving huge visibility, a manual choke to help it start on a cold morning and
keep-fit manual window winders – all less to go wrong.
Powered here by
the Honda Civic derived E-series 1.3 litre 12valve engine which developed 70bhp
driving the front wheels via 5-speed manual transmission. We also spotted the
‘very Rover’ bits of wood trim and original radio cassette player still in place
in addition to the Bible in the front and emergency chocolate bar for its last
diabetic owner (sticker still on the car!).
Within the history file, we
only see the V5C showing 3 former keepers to the current who has owned it
for eight years. There is also the current MOT valid until May 2022
with no advisories recorded. The MOT history reveals the car to have covered
less than 600 miles in the past 6 years.
Starting promptly and running as
it should when Classics World took it for a spin around our site, the car is
bound to be adored by its new owner for its quirky lines, unmolested nature and
rarity alone.
