1988 Fiat Panda 4x4
UK RHD example; 85,000
miles; lots of history; MOT August next year
If you want to look
'old money' in St Moritz these days, a flashy Range Rover or Aston-Martin SUV
simply will not do - a Panda 4x4 is the only choice - and best of all a
Guigiaro-designed 141 Series Mk1.
Said by the master designer himself to
be his most successful design, not only as the closest end result to the
original design brief, but for its simplicity, effectiveness and crisp
lines.
Introduced in 1984 to a somewhat sceptical audience, the
Steyr-engineered 4x4 soon proved its go-anywhere credentials and they are still
in high demand today in areas with narrow roads and slippery access
- there is very little else that will do the job.
This
cheeky bright red 141 series Panda has had just four owners from new, the
last since 2006.
It carries an MOT which shows no advisories and expires
on 25th August 2022. Invoices on file show that it needed a bit of welding to
the sills and a CV joint cover in order to get its advisory-free status,
with further bills dating back to 2006.
The car has spent some time
travelling to and from the vendor's second home in Italy and has always
proved both fun and reliable, although an impending house move and loss of
storage has meant the little Panda is now up for grabs.
The interior has
held up well and the car comes with a handy towbar. There are a few areas
which could be tidied up as can be seen in the photos but it is ready for work
and play as is - with potential to turn into a very nice example as time and
funds allow.
