Description
1966 Triumph TR4A
Older restoration; huge
history file; an attractive and well-sorted car driven to the
sale
This 1966 non-IRS TR4 was originally delivered to the US and
comes with a BMIHT Dating Certificate. As is often the case, its life in the
States has little or no history, although its Certificate of Title shows it was
owned by a gent in Baltimore in 1990, just prior to its repatriation back to the
UK. It was first registered in this country in 1991.
A huge fill of
restoration bills totals more than £20,000 of spend between its arrival and 2016
when it came into the hands of the vendor. It changed hands a few times along
the way, being featured in the March 2000 TRaction magazine (copy not included)
just prior to it changing hands in 2001. There are some photos on file of its
inital restoration and engine rebuild. It moved to a new owner in 2006 who was
to keep it for the next 10 years.
Not long after its arrival, the car was
converted to RHD, with continued care and maintence ever since. More recent
bills, in its current ownership include new carpets and a high power starter in
2017, a brake overhaul and new clutch master cylinder in 2018 and a rolling road
tune in 2019.
It has been regularly MOTd, it's current test running
until October 2022 which shows four minor advisories, one for a small oil leak
from the rear axle and three tyre references.
Driven some 30+miles to the
sale, it has been in regular use, but a look at the recent MOT history shows
that it has covered fewer miles each year than the vendor had intended hence its
inclusion in the sale.
This is a well-sorted, attractive TR4A which is in
very presentable condition. A most usable car, it looks attractively estimated
and is ready to be enjoyed.
