1995 Volkswagen Corrado VR6
Cool as a
cucumber late-model VR6 manual in desirable dark blue; just 108,000
miles; 23 old MOTs and considerable history
Supplied new by Enterprise Garage VW dealers of Bridgnorth in
August 1995, this late model (final year of production) VW Corrado VR6 is
finished in dark Blue and rides on its original 15” five-spoke Speedline alloy
wheels and absolutely looks the part – neat, muscular and
purposeful.
Inside, we find black
figure-hugging cloth sports seats, on-board computer, front fog lamps, heated
rear screen, buttons for manual control of the automatic rear wing, electric
windows, electric mirrors, original VW radio/Cassette and electric
sunroof.
Its fitted with the potent
12-valve 2.9-litre VR6 engine which produces just shy of 190bhp driving the
front wheels via five speed manual transmission. We also note fitment of an
aftermarket air filter which helps release an addictive induction roar under
acceleration (they sound superb!).
Showing just
108,897 miles, the car comes to us from a local VW enthusiast collector and
organiser of various VW meets and presents very well with only the head-lining
drooping in the corners – a common issue and ABS light going on and off
intermittently which it’s done throughout our vendor’s tenure and temperamental
sunroof operation, again a common Corrado thing.
The history file of this attractive angular coupe includes the V5C
recording just two previous owners, the owner’s pack & service book
revealing seven stamps all by VW main dealers plus two hand-written entries
for service in 2003 at 72,817 miles and 2010 at 87,700 miles. In addition we
find a considerable selection of bills for routine service and parts including a
service kit in May 2020 and new battery in April 2021 plus a useful 23 old MOTs
to back the mileage up. A note pad is also on file detailing expenditure between
2010 and 2019.
The current MOT is valid until
November 2022 recording no advisories, which bodes well for a 27-year-old
car. The MOT history reveals the
car to have seen limited use recording just c.4,500 miles use in the
last five years. An added
bonus, the plate L6 ABV comes with the car, ABV being the engine code of the VR6
variant which is sure to get those of a geeky disposition
excited.
A proper car and a proper Modern
Classic – its no surprise values have risen sharply as the market wakes up to
what a cracking and well-built pocket rocket these VR6’s are.
