1992 Peugeot 309 GL
No
Reserve
Automatic and now increasingly rare to find 1.6
GL spec model showing just 55,501 miles from new
Dating from August 1992, this late model Peugeot 309 is now
something of a rarity, with just c.400 left registered as ‘on the road’. This
model was a staple of the British car market through the 80s and early 90’s and
was a most capable car.
Coming to us in GL spec
(G for five-door), this Phase two example hails from the end of production
and as such features a glass moonroof, electric front windows, clock, glove box
lid (!), rear wash/wipe, intermittent wipers and better quality seat coverings
than its lower spec siblings.
Under the bonnet,
we find the punchier 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine driving the front
wheels through four-speed automatic transmission.
Finished in grey with grey interior and still wearing its original
plastic wheel trims, the car is wonderfully unmolested and original, no surprise
given it’s covered just 55,501 indicated miles by just three previous
owners to the current. The car
hasn’t seen much recent use having spent the last four years or so off the
road until being pulled out, treated to a new timing belt, water pump and MOT,
which runs until November 2022 recording just two
advisories.
A tidy example of this venerable
'80s family workhorse with low ownership and mileage – budget retro-classic
motoring and an ideal entry to the popular 'Festival of the Unexceptional' which
has a huge turnout every year - a really good event.
Documents: V5C;
invoice; MOT Nov-22 with 2 advisories
