2004 Bentley Continental GT

Earlier twin-turbo W12 Coupe boasting 552bhp with room for four; lovely colour scheme with only 68,307 miles - incredible value!

Under the guidance of VW/Bentley’s Dirk Van Braeckel, a svelte 4-seater 2-door coupe was unveiled in 2003. The car was new from top to bottom and featured a 5,998cc W12 engine. This configuration kept the engine short, while two massive turbochargers ensured a monumental 552bhp and 480lb/ft of torque.

Power was transmitted to all four wheels via a six-speed ZF gearbox, a combination of grip and grunt that endowed the 2.35-tonne leviathan with tremendous pace, 60mph coming up in just 4.8 seconds with a top speed just shy of 200mph, all delivered without a ripple on a glass of champagne.

HX54 WLC is one of the earliest examples of the CGT first registered in September 2004 and has covered 68,307 miles in the last 17.5 years. It comes with a service book showing nine Bentley service stamps, the last-stamped service carried out at 62,000 miles, however our vendor has had it recently serviced by his local man in Presteigne who he has used for some 40 years although there is unfortunately no supporting invoice for this work.

The car has a current MOT valid until December 2022, recording two minor advisories for tyre wear to the NSR and deterioration of the central exhaust flexi’s.

Finished in dark Blue and sitting on its original 19" split rim alloy wheels, this pillar-less coupe still looks sharp. Inside the cabin, we find two tone cream and blue hide covering all surfaces (including the head lining, showing limited amounts of the common sag and shrinkage) with walnut and aluminium trim, electric heated memory seats with massage and lumbar adjustment, cruise control, double-glazing, electric windows, electric mirrors, adj. steering column, digital climate control with A/C and rear ventillation, Bluetooth phone unit, sat nav, on-board computer, air suspension with adjustable firmness and height as well as paddles for tiptronic use of the automatic/tiptronic transmission.

Supplied with its original handbooks, V5C revealing 5 former owners, 2 old MOTs and 2 keys it’s ready to be enjoyed. We did note the central LCD display has deteriorated which is not uncommon on the earlier CGT’s or other VAG cars of this era and repairs are readily available.

Your cataloguer can attest to their huge torque and appeal having owned and loved one of these GTs last year. The first time you experience the enormous thrust from just over tickover, it really does feel like you could reverse the rotation of the earth.

With such little use, this car looks incredibly appealing at the guide price suggested, especially given that its first owner shelled out over £100,000 for it. There is no shortage of second-hand cars out there for around £20,000, but how many of them have the sheer presence of this Bentley? Few we would say. Epic value, indeed.
