1981 Mercedes Benz 230E saloon
A rare manual
right hand drive with MOT to December 2022 in splendid order
Mercedes-Benz
W123 generation of saloons were a huge success, establishing the brand
in in many new markets and is often
considered to be the apex of Mercedes-Benz build quality. Sold with both
petrol and diesel power plants, their durability and mechanical resilience
is legendary - the petrol versions being a lot more refined and pleasant to
drive than the diesel variants.
This 230E petrol comes with a manual
gearbox which is quite unusual, the majority being sold with auto boxes in the
day.
This
car has been in the same family for many years, spending some years in
Spain before coming back to UK which helps to explain the good state of
preservation.
The service book shows 17 stamps, but its most recent was
added in 1989 which is of little relevance. It now has some 122,000 miles on the
clock, which for these strongly built cars is modest and looks to
have been well maintained throughout its life.
Now tax and MOT
exempt, this is a really nice example which we feel will do
rather better than the modest guide price
suggests.
