Description
1971 MGB Roadster
From recent long term
ownership; major rebuild in 1991 and just 17,000 careful miles
since
First registered in August 1971, this 1971 MkII B
Roadster underwent a full restoration in 1990/91.
Photos on file show a total strip to component parts. New sills, doors
and rear quarters were fitted along with bulkhead repairs using new panels. New
front wings were also fitted, along with a new rear panel and boot lid.
Originally white, the completed bare shell was resprayed red, the car being
built up with fully restored suspension and running gear etc.
Three small
albums are included which show all stages of the restoration work
and will be included with the car.
It was
sold in 2001 and has been kept in a garage and, although used throughout
the year, has only been used on dry days. He has always
maintained regardless of cost by a local independent garage where the senior
technician has an extensive knowledge and experience of the MGB
series.
Old MOTs suggest its 117,000 miles is
genuine, the current owner enjoying many events organised by the
MGCC.
During its current ownership,
the car has been fitted with replacement
leather seats, a battery isolator, conversion from two 6v batteries to one 12v battery (high
performance battery fitted January 2021), CTEK battery
conditioner ‘plumbed-in’ so included with the car, electronic ignition and the obligatory MotoLita steering wheel with
the original parts being retained.
It comes with a full and half tonneau. There are some
22 MOTs, old tax discs between 1999 and 2009, handbook and invoices to support
some of the work done.
As can be seen from the pictures, the
bodywork presents very well and the weather equipment fits nicely. Ready for
immediate use, this bright red MGB looks exellent value at the suggested guide
price given its year and condition.
