Description
1970 Jaguar E-Type S2 FHC
A
very usable example ready to enjoy; great colour combination; triple
carbs
This eye-catching Primrose yellow fixed-head coupe dates from
1970 and was exported new to America according to the accompanying JDHT
Certificate.
Delivered to BL in New York, it was despatched on 4th
November with Cinnamon trim (now black) and a manual box. As is so often the
case with American imports, there is no accompanying history relating to its
time in the States, although there is a whopping file with details of the
investment and work done since its repatriation in the early
1990s.
Extensively restored on arrival here, it was converted to
right-hand drive and put back on the road in August 1997 since when it has
covered limited miles. The car was treated to an engine rebuild in 2006 and new
wire wheels were fitted in 2008. It also benefits from a stainless steel exhaust
and the correct triple SU carb setup rather than the power-sapping US
market Strombergs.
Purchased through ourselves back in 2010 by the
vendor's step-father, it has been well cared for but little used, barely 1,000
miles having been added over the intervening years.
There are a few jobs
which would improve the cosmetic aspects of the car, particularly in several
areas of trim, but all simple and rewarding stuff. Bidders are also advised that
it has developed a minor fuel leak from the rear of the car since it has been on
site.
It comes with a large amount of service history, an owner's manual
and is only reluctantly being sold because it is just not getting the use it
deserves.
