2002 Toyota Celica VVTi (T230)
No
Reserve
Tidy and appealing 7th Gen Coupe with punchy 140bhp
engine and slick 6-speed 'box; 15 service stamps, father & son owned for the
last 5 years; ready to go
Supplied new by
Struan Toyota of Perth to its first owner in May 2002, this stylish, sleek and
angular coupe is finished in Silver Haze (IDO) and sits on its original
five-spoke 16” alloy wheels with factory rear spoiler.
Under the bonnet of this 7th Generation Celica, known as
the T230, we find the standard 1.8-litre four-cylinder 1ZZ-FE featuring variable
valve timing (VVTi) which develops 140bhp, driving the front wheels via
six-speed manual transmission. This
unit offers a great combination of punchy performance (particularly up in the
rev range when the VVTi kicks in), combined with economy. On that note,
CNNMoney.com rated the Celica as one of the top cars to buy for performance Vs.
economy in 2004.
Inside, we find a sporty
interior (with proper rear seats offering realistic seating for four) featuring
dark grey leather, subtle two-tone dash, trim and door cards, electric windows,
electric mirrors, air-conditioning, central locking, glass tilt and slide
sunroof as well as retrofit touch screen in car
entertainment.
Showing just 89,386 miles, the
car looks well with few marks or signs of age bar some flaking to a couple of
the alloy wheels, commensurate with that, but readily solvable with a refurb or
change of wheel. The history file
incudes the V5C revealing just three former keepers to the current, the former
also being the son of the current, who have enjoyed the car between them.
We
also find the owner’s pack, service book recording an impressive 15 stamps, with
14 all by the same Toyota dealer, Arnold Clarke plus most recent in February
2022 at 89,151 miles. The recent
service also included fitment of a new ABS sensor and then in March 2022 a new
CV joint. There are a few other
bills from a few years ago for brake discs, pads and other
sundries.
The car saw little use during the
pandemic spending some of that time in storage (2020 – 2022) but is now back in
action with a current MOT valid until February 2023 showing just three minor
advisories for wear to a brake disc, slight handbrake bind and a brake pipe
corroded or covered in grease/other material.
Ready to be enjoyed, these are proper up-and-coming Modern
Classics. This car has been featured in a forthcoming article by Kelsey Media in
an Affordable Classics piece - if the article goes to press before the auction
goes live, we shall include a link for your viewing
pleasure!
On offer at No Reserve, the
highest bid takes this sporty coupe home.
