1965 MGB Roadster

First registered in June 1965, this MGB Roadster has been in the current family ownership since 1986 (husband and wife) and comes with a vast history file to document meticulous upkeep throughout this time. In 1994 it was fitted with an Ivor Searle reconditioned unleaded engine supplied by the MGOC.

In 2003/04 it was totally rebuilt by Bromsgrove MG around a new Heritage shell at a cost of over £14,000. This included fitting a reconditioned overdrive gearbox along with a new clutch kit. In fact it seems that virtually everything on the car was replaced or renewed: brakes, suspension, electrics, door windows, seat belts, bumpers, walnut dash and door cappings – the list of new parts goes on forever and is amply detailed by dozens of invoices and various photos on file.

Since the restoration was completed the vendor estimates that the car has covered fewer than 12,000 miles although it is hard to be precise because the odometer was not working from 2004 – 2012 when it was fixed and re-set to zero (it currently shows just under 6,800 miles). Other invoices attest to upkeep and servicing since the rebuild. An immobiliser has been discreetly fitted in the centre armrest and the car retains its original handbook and two sets of keys.

Starting promptly and running nicely as we have moved it around on site, with good 60psi oil pressure, it still looks very smart indeed and no doubt has another 50+ years of useful life ahead of it.
