Description
1949 Land Rover Tickford
Rare Land Rover from
long term ownership; three owners from new; part restored; huge
potential
One of the rarest and most desirable of
Land Rovers.
First registered on
22nd November 1949 by Mrs Amy Simmons of Hereford before being
transferred to Holloway & Sons (Motor Engineers) in
1954.
The engine was changed to 26100954 and
rated as 1,997cc in approximately 1956.
The
next registered keeper, recorded in 1983 is where the car has been laid up
since.
The club records and paperwork on file
confirm all the above.
For some considerable
time, the car has been set aside to restore one day. More and more parts have
been purchased over the years and the front end has only loosely been put
together for the auction.
The rare Tickford
body is of course original. The chassis is also original and surprisingly solid
so this definitely has lots of potential.
The
62 photographs showing here clearly show the extent of what needs doing and show
everything that arrived with us for the auction. It is worth noting that the
vendors family have many other parts which may well be available by way of
separate negotiation after the auction.
