1972 Humber Sceptre MkIII
No Reserve
Rare three owner example with automatic transmission and
walnut dash; nicely patinated with scope for light cosmetic improvement
Dating from October 1972 this MkIII Humber Sceptre is
finished in Blue with black vinyl roof and sits upon its period correct
wheels.
Under the bonnet, we find the typical
Rootes Group 1725cc four-cylinder twin-carb engine good for 87Bhp driving the
rear wheels via optional automatic transmission.
Inside, we find the typically well-appointed cabin of the Arrow
range, with half vinyl and cloth seats, walnut veneer and manual
windows.
The car shows 11,197 which we assume
to be 111,197 miles which has been covered by the current owner of eight years
and at two former (previous since 1989).
The
history file includes the V5C, old style log-book (showing one owner since 1972,
the first change in 1989 as above) 12 old MOTs, the owner’s instruction manual
and file of bills for works undertaken and parts.
The car did start and run with a jump, but unfortunately, we
noticed a fuel leak adjacent to the alternator so we quickly turned it off for
risk of fire – as a result, we would not suggest starting the car in our Classic
Car Garage and rectify this leak before running it again. There is room for
cosmetic improvement (as pictured) if that kind of thing bothers you, if not fix
the fuel leak and enjoy the car instead.
