Description
Road-going Mini track day car ideal for sprints and hill climbs; fresh
from a nut-and-bolt build by a retired Mini specialist
Registered as
a 1974 Austin Mini 1000, this Mini was acquired by our vendor back in 2014.
Formerly the owner of a Mini restoration business in Worcester, he took the car
with him when he retired and has spent the last few years transforming it into
the wonderful specimen you see today.
Although
there are no invoices to show exactly what has been done, there is a sheet of
notes that cover the main works carried out. Using a rust-free shell from a
later car, it has been expertly rebuilt into a road-going track day car, ideal
for sprints and hill climbs.
Features include:
rebuilt 1300cc engine uprated to competition spec; big valve 11-stud head; Weber
45 carburettor; Facet fuel pump; alloy radiator; fully adjustable front and rear
suspension with coil spring conversion and high lo’s; vented front brake discs
and 4-pot calipers; 7” x 13” Superlight wheels with new Continental tyres; full
Safety Devices roll cage; new Cobra Evolution S seats with Sparco race
harnesses; alloy gearknob, Sparco pedals and fuel filler cap; powder coated
subframes.
The body has been painted in
Lamborghini Sunburst Orange with a quick-release carbon fibre bonnet, boot lid
and wheelarch extensions. It has only covered a handful of ‘shakedown’ miles
since the build was completed and would no doubt benefit from some careful
running-in before the performance is exploited to the full.
As you can see in the photos, it appears to be in very smart order
and has been starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on
site, with lively performance and a rorty exhaust note. On offer here at a
modest guide price considering all the work that has gone into it, this Mini
would be ideal for anyone who fancies dipping their toe into motorsport.
