Description
Beautifully restored 3.0 SC refinished in a stunning BMW Blue with
fully retrimmed interior and rebuilt engine; considerable history file with
photographs and detail of recent restoration work
Supplied new by Ian Anthony Porsche of Knutsford in January 1980
this striking 911SC was originally supplied in light gold with black Fuchs
alloy wheels, whale tail spoiler and Pascha interior.
Our vendor, a retired body and restoration man in West Wales has a
thing for blue cars, and bought this 911 as a project requiring work and as
occupation during retirement.
Between him and
his son, they set about a full restoration stripping the car down to its shell,
repairing any corrosion they found, replacing the front wings, having the engine
rebuilt, repainting the car in what we believe to be BMW Avus Blue and
re-trimming the interior. He also
likes a bit of shine so added some polished /chrome trim and deleted the rear
wing giving a cleaner and sharper look to the car.
The car has done little since completion, a bad back meaning very
limited use so the car is ready for the new owner to use, bed in, and
enjoy.
The SC shows 133,284 miles with just a
handful covered since completion earlier this year and just c.400 in the last
eight years.
The history file includes the V5C
revealing seven former keepers to our vendor, the owners wallet with manual and
service section recording nine stamps plus the first two, hand-written entries
by the supplying dealer. The last stamp was in 1988 at 95,377 miles suggesting
much of the cars use occurred in its early life.
The file also includes a file of images of the car in its previous
‘Gold’ life dated 2004 plus a selection of more recent images during the
restoration showing various aspects of the work undertaken. In addition, we also find a list of new
parts fitted during the restoration including a new fuel tank, new fuel pump,
fuel filters, new air box and valves, new oil stat under rear wing, new bushes,
front suspension inserts, rear shocks, refurbished callipers, brake pads, hand
brake shoes, cables and adjusters, new discs, front to rear oil pipes, new front
wings, new rear tyres, new rear skirt, new screen and rubbers, new sunroof
seals, head lamp inserts etc.
This note also
mentions the engine work, which included a complete strip down, with new
bearings, overhauled heads, pistons inspected (found to be very good), new
guides, seats and uprated head studs.
Furthermore, we find a purchase receipt dated July 1992 for £8,500
at 116,000 miles from selling dealer Finley Gorham Limited of Henley-on-Thames,
an old V5C, 11 old MOTs and lots of other more historic
bills.
Ready to be enjoyed this looks like a
very smart and well presented 911SC in a super colour scheme and likely a
sensible investment.
