Description
Oval-dash 2.5 manual with lift-out sunroof; pinstripe interior; scope
to use and improve showing 108,169 miles
Dating
from January 1986 this ‘Oval-dash’ Porsche 944 is finished in Grand Prix White
and sits on its original 15” Teledial alloy wheels.
Under the bonnet, we find the 2.5 litre M44.40 four-cylinder engine
which developed 161bhp when new driving the rear wheels via five-speed
transmission which was hung out the back.
Inside, we find burgundy half vinyl and cloth interior with
four-way electric adjustment, the ‘oval dash’ of the facelifted cars, electric
mirrors, electric windows, electric aerial, heated rear screen, digital clock
and radio/CD player. The 944 also
features an ingenious electric lift-out sunroof creating a partial Targa top
which is stored in the boot.
The car shows
108,169 miles and presents well enough for its age, although there are some
signs of previous cosmetic repair and of it having led a 37 year life, as with
inside, the seats looks presentable although there is some work to do to the
rear seat squabs and headlining but nothing that looks too
intimidating.
The history file includes the V5C
revealing 15 former keepers to the current of two years, an old V5C, three old
MOTs, sole invoice detailing a £753 spend in 2004 on a clutch kit and head
gasket set at 95,497 miles and the current MOT valid until February 2024
recording no advisories.
Ready to use and
improve these 944s represent affordable entry to Porsche ownership and boasted
enviable dynamics when in their prime and look good value in today’s overheated
911 market.
