Description
Rare B10 3.3 with manual transmission; No. 089 finished in desirable
Estoril Blue with embossed black leather interior - a very subtle
Q-car
Supplied new by Sytner Nottingham in May
2000 this attractive and very subtle Q-car is a supremely rare Alpina B10, No.
89 in fact, based on the world class E39 530i saloon. Finished in arguably the best BMW colour
of Estoril Blue, the car sits beautifully on its original 18” 20-spoke Alpina
Jet-fin alloy wheels with staggered fitment.
Under the bonnet, we find the BMW M52 engine which Alpina take and
then bore out to 3.3 litres with a new machined head, modified crank shaft,
uprated pistons and camshafts fitted with modified air intake system, stainless
steel Alpina/Bosal exhaust and revised ECU resulting in a power output of 276bhp
and 335NM of torque driving the rear wheels here via manual
transmission.
Given the improved performance
the suspension is also tuned by Alpina with Sachs springs and dampers (when new
and original spec).
Inside the cabin, we find
black leather Sport seats embossed with the Alpina logo and manual adjustment,
walnut trim, Alpina branded gauges, Alpina leather stitched multi-function
steering wheel and of course the Alpina B10 numbered plaque by the sunroof
control. We also find the usual
level of quality and luxury found in a well optioned E39 including digital
climate control with AC, electric windows, sunroof, mirrors etc plus heated
seats, traction control.
The car shows 162,257
miles and largely presents well bar the bits pictured that would benefit from
some remedial cosmetics (bonnet, boot and the localised blistering on the sills,
a common E39 trait etc) but started and ran sweetly as we moved it around for
these shots and video.
The history file
includes the V5C revealing five former keepers to the current of eight years,
owner's manual, the service book recording 16 stamps inc. PDI, the last in June
2022 at 162,180 miles plus three further stamps for brake fluid changes and one
for a coolant change.
In addition, we also note
inclusion of some invoices for parts including what looks like purchase from
Sytner of a new timing chain, tensioner, piston and gaskets in 2014 (although no
bill for the associated works), three old MOTs plus the current valid until
April 2024 two advisories (enter the reg at
check-mot.service.gov.uk).
Ready to be enjoyed
and improved cosmetically, this is a rare and capable car with seating for five,
offering plenty of space and plenty of go. Very cool indeed.
