Description
From a deceased estate; fully spec'd Fastback with useful upgrades;
351ci; Edelbrock heads; steering rack conversion; tubular headers;
Performance 351 intake manifold and Holley carb; imported from dry-state
America
This J-Code Fastback was produced in the Metuchen, New
Jersey plant in 1968 and originally came fitted with the 302cu in Windsor with a
four-barrel carb.
Imported into the UK in 2003, nothing is known of its
first 35 years - a common enough situation on US imports, although multiple
bills on file from UK registration show plenty of love and attention over the
subsequent 20 years.
The V5C shows five owners since arrival on these
shores, although the last two are from the same family. The vendor's late
husband purchased it in 2013 from Cloud 9 Cars and very much enjoyed driving
it.
The car has had a significant number of subtle but effective
improvements which have transformed its already decent performance.
The
engine appears to be a 351ci and is fitted with Edelbrock performance heads. The
Holley performance intake manifold supports a Holley Street Avenger carb and
there is paperwork in the file which refers to a Comp Camshaft although we
obviously can't check to see that one is fitted. The fuel lift pump is also by
Holley.
The headers are tubular and the engine bay is very neat and tidy,
with an alloy radiator to take care of the cooling. All in all, quite the
package.
The vendor purchased a reconditioned gearbox by American
Automatics in Southend-on Sea. They supplied a Ford C4 unit with the
correct spline and 10 1/2" converter built into a donor V8 box with an A Code
Mustang servo.
There are plenty of older invoices on file and its most
recent MOT expired in 2017 since when it has covered fewer than 1,000
miles.
In very sound order bodily and with what appears to be a
significantly upgraded engine, this Fastback Mustang ticks all the
right boxes.
