Lot Ended
Description
Low-owner example; runs and drives; Lotus twin-cam engine; Weber
carbs; nice project
A letter from Lotus Archives confirms chassis
number 50/2037 left the works in November 1969 destined for Dicksons Motors
(Perth) Ltd - the car still carrying the sill plates showing them as the
supplying dealer.
An S model, which featured a more luxurious interior,
extra instrumentation and front fog lights, it was only available as a factory
supplied car (the Elan was still available as a self-build kit at the time to
avoid Purchase Tax). By December of that year, the standard model had been
dropped, all Elans from then on featuring these upgrades.
Painted
Royal Blue (LO9 colour code) and fitted with black vinyl trim, this one has had
a Webasto sunroof added at some point and retains its original wood dash and
seats etc.
It appears to have had one owner until 2022 - an old V5C on
file showing details of owner number two and its current V5C is in the name of
our vendor who purchased it this year - three owners in total.
Running
and driving, it is undoubtedly a project, but is nicely original, carries a
Lotus twin-cam engine with twin Weber carbs and apart from the later rear
lights, looks correct and unmolested.
