Description
A pampered GT with a large history file from new; overdrive; stainless
steel exhaust; polybushed suspension; new tyres; just serviced; driven 40 miles
to the sale
As the Heritage Certificate confirms,
this MGB GT was built in July 1980 finished in Pageant Blue with a Silver/Grey
interior, overdrive and Rostyle wheels. Among the very last MGBs made before the
Abingdon works stopped producing them a couple of months later, it was sold new
by Ivor F Miles Ltd of Haddenham, Bucks, in February 1981.
Clearly a much-cherished machine, the original service book shows
that it was serviced 10 times up to 48,632 miles in 1991, most of the servicing
being carried out by the supplying dealer, while two ring-binders full of
invoices show that it has continued to be meticulously maintained ever since,
the odometer now showing 86,165 miles which is correct.
It has had five former keepers, the last of whom owned it from 2017 –
2023 and was clearly pretty obsessive about maintenance, judging by the invoices
on file. New parts fitted in his ownership include: front coil springs; front
brake calipers, discs and pads; rear brake drums and shoes; clutch kit; oil
cooler kit; radiator; electric cooling fan; water pump; electronic ignition;
sports coil; wiring harness; stub axles and trunnions; headlamps; polybushed
suspension plus much more besides. He also fitted a new set of Falken tyres only
700 miles ago.
Our vendor acquired the car in
September 2023 and treated it to new front seat foams, new underbonnet felt, new
tailgate seal and new door mirrors. He also had it serviced, including getting
the carbs tuned and the timing set, and it has only covered a few hundred miles
since. Other features include a stainless steel exhaust and a Blaupunkt
Frankfurt radio.
As you can see in the photos,
it looks great, both above and below, with just some minor microblistering in
the paint here and there. Driven some 40 miles to the sale, it has been
starting promptly and running very sweetly as we have moved it around on site,
with healthy 50psi oil pressure.
Retaining all
its original handbooks in the original wallet, a Haynes workshop manual and
two sets of keys, this pampered MGB is on offer here at a very
attractive guide price.
