Description
Gleaming example; correct and restored from the ground-up 10 years
ago; little use since; side-draught SU otherwise standard; out of the
box....
Our vendor, well-known in Austin 7 circles, thought it
would be good for business to have a branded Austin 7 van. He was able to
acquire a 1927 rolling chassis from reknowned Austin Seven collector A Halabi so
he set about building one.
The chassis was comprehensively restored,
with the usual attention to brakes and king-pins etc. He enlisted Adrian
Goodfellow to build him an accurate fascimile of a 1927 C-Cab van body which has
been beautifully executed, painted and sign-written.
Correct parts were
used throughout with the exception of the side-draft SU, the job being completed
in 2014 with an MOT to allow registration. This noted that the steering was a
little sticky - which it still is today - the van having been used for a couple
of local shows and that's all.
The dash carries a nice 'period'
aftermarket Linkula oil pressure gauge in place of the quirky and often leaky
Austin 7 oil button - a nice and rare touch in a beautifully presented and
correct C-Cab van.
