Description
Fresh from a 25-year restoration including a new ash frame,
aluminium body and leather interior; vendor lost count of restoration costs
after £30,000!
First delivered to dealers Cook
& Palmer Ltd in May 1933, this Singer Nine Sports 4-Seater was originally
presented in Ivory and Red before it was treated to what appears to have been an
epic restoration by the current owner.
The
club dating certificate on file and copy of original build sheet confirm the
above details.
The early life of this Singer is
unknown, but our vendor bought it in c.1998 as an ‘absolute shambles’ and
commenced what would be end up being a 25-year restoration.
Notes and invoices in the history file give details of the
restoration which included a new ash frame; new aluminium body; new leather
interior; new hood and side screens; a rebuild of both engine and gearbox; four
new tyres and wheels; re-cored radiator and electric fan; full re-paint and
re-chrome and to top it off a new steering wheel. The vendor has told us he
rather lost count of the expense after £30,000, although it has resulted
in what is almost a new vintage car!
Since the restoration was completed, it has been mainly kept in
storage but is being offered for sale to free up the space that it
occupies. It does run and drive, but having not been used regularly
recently, we would recommend a few simple checks before taking out on the
road.
As you can see in the photos, it looks
absolutely wonderful and is ready for a new custodian to
enjoy.
