Description
Much recent recommissioning done; very solid and well sorted
Belgian-built military spec Landy S1 80"; driven to the sale
The
Heritage Certificate shows this Minerva originally left the
factory in Solihull as a Land Rover Series I 80" Basic CKD (Completely Knocked
Down) kit of parts on 8th May 1952, destined for Societe Nouvelle in Belgium to
be built up as a Military spec Minerva.
There is no paperwork to cover
its Army career, but it was taxed for civilian use in Liege in October 2000 and
imported into the UK and road registered in October 2021.
The vendor
acquired it from its importer and has enjoyed going through it and making it fit
for purpose. Structural work included a new rear cross member and RHS bulkhead
outrigger. The rest of the chassis has been cleaned and treated and is in sound
order.
The braking system was overhauled, with a reconditioned master
cylinder, new pipes and linings. The steering box was professionally overhauled,
a new clutch fitted along with new tyres and a full engine
service.
Both swivels needed replacement and the vendor has fitted a
new petrol tank - it has an electric fuel pump for easy starting. He also
replaced the exhaust.
The main invoices are in the file and list lots of
sensible additions such as a spin-on oil filter, shackle pins, new
propshaft and various rubber seals etc., but don't show the many hours of
fiddly work to make it the usable and nicely presented Minerva that it
is.
Driven to the sale, it is ready to enjoy and looks exceptional value
when compared with a standard Series I Land Rover on which it is
based.
