Description
Rock solid American import; runs and drives with working overdrive;
straightforward project
Dating from
1966, this TR4A IRS spent its first 52 years in Oklahoma, USA, before being
brought back to the UK six years ago, the V5C showing that it was registered
here in June 2018 with the number VAM 610D.
Our
vendor, the second UK owner, acquired the car in June 2019 (for considerably
more than the guide price suggested here) and was intending to restore it but,
with too many other projects on the go, he has now realised that he will never
get round to the task, hence its appearance in this sale.
As you can see in the photos, it looks commendably straight and solid
and we are told that it runs and drives, with working overdrive, but the brakes
will need attention. It is believed to be substantially complete but will need a
new hood and perhaps some minor trim parts – all readily available from the many
specialists who serve this model.
There are a few
invoices showing that it received various new parts while still in Oklahoma in
2011 (brake and suspension parts; heater and radiator hoses; carburettor parts
etc). An online check shows that it is currently on
SORN.
Starting promptly and running sweetly on
site, with good 70psi oil pressure, it is on offer here as a straightforward
project at a modest guide price and should keep someone gainfully employed over
the coming winter months.
