1992 Honda NSX

Astounding one-owner early non-PAS five-speed manual Honda NSX which has only covered 11,567 miles from new; find another?

Supplied new on January 31^st 1992 by Windmill Honda Motor Co. of Swindon, this gleaming red Honda NSX is considered by many to be the Holy Grail – the purest form of the NSX.

With beautifully weighted non-power steering, delicious and highly desirable five-speed manual transmission (No. J4A4-1004496)and the earlier 2,977cc C30A V6 DOHC engine with VTEC system delivering 270Bhp at a screaming 8,000rpm, Honda gave Ferrari sufficient fright to send them back to the drawing board to re-design their current mid-engine V8 sports car, the 348 and come back with the improved 355 - so good was Honda’s NSX - the new benchmark supercar.

An enticing prospect and one which really could be used every day with superb practicality, visibility and driveability – the NSX (standing for New Sportscar eXperimental) really did hail the dawn of the truly usable two-seater mid-engined Super/Sports car.

Despite its immense practicality and usability, this exquisite example has seen very little recent regular use and shows a teeny 11,565 miles covered by its sole owner. The car is very, very reluctantly for sale due to ongoing health problems.

Our vendor enjoyed the car more regularly in its earlier life with several enjoyable trips to the Highlands, with some years seeing the car serviced twice. The accompanying history file includes the original purchase invoice revealing the only optional extras to be a CD changer and CD player, fitment of the ‘NSX’ private plate which has remained on the car since new and comes with it. Purchase price when new was £52,996 including three years warranty and first service.

Furthermore, the file includes an array of invoices for service work including routine main dealer services in January 1993 at 4,012 miles, July 1993 at 4,489 miles, February 1994 at 4,907 miles, October 1994 at 6,940 miles and 9,201 miles in 1996. The car looks to have seen little regular use in the following years with an oil service and MOT in Aug 2007 at 11,014 miles, timing belt service by local Honda dealer Steels in August 2012 at 11,070 miles costing £672, and more recent oil service by a local Hereford independent at 11,522 miles in December 2021.

In addition two brake fluid change are documented in September 2015 and November 2018 plus a replacement fuel pump by Honda main dealer Blade in October 2016 costing £560.

A further bill on file is included from Blade Honda for a staggering £9,424 detailing a replacement factory Alpine stereo unit and replacement digital climate control unit in Nov 2018 at 11,480 miles which must have made the eyebrows raise a little!

In addition to the above, we also find a period car mags with NSX road tests, some 24 old MOTs in addition to the current, valid until December 2022 with no advisories recorded (in fact, we didn’t spot any advisories noted on any of the old MOTs either) which also reveal the car to have covered only c.500 miles in the last 10 years. The file also includes two keys and two fobs (one fob needs a replacement battery we are told), the owner’s pack, extended warranty paperwork and service book revealing seven stamps, the last by Steels Honda in 2012 when the timing belt was changed as mentioned and documented.

A most unusual and exciting opportunity to acquire an earlier non-power steering five-speed manual 3.0 NSX showing just 11,567 miles covered by its sole owner – find another? We all love it and can attest to the car driving well as we were lucky enough to collect the car from the vendor and drive it to Brightwells – a privileged opportunity.
