Description
Current owner since 2000; overdrive; electronic ignition; large
history file; new hood and tonneau cover included
First
registered in September 1975, this pretty MGB Roadster has been in the current
ownership since 2000 and comes with a large history file extending back over 35
years to show regular upkeep during this time. Originally a rubber bumper model,
it was converted to chrome bumpers in 2006.
Invoices show that the car was substantially restored in the
late-1980s and it was fitted with an exchange reconditioned engine in 1992 when
the overdrive gearbox was also rebuilt. Fitted with Newtronic electronic
ignition at some point, it also has a USB port on the dash, a Mota-Lita sports
steering wheel, boot-mounted luggage rack and a battery cut-off switch behind
the driver’s seat. A tonneau cover and soft top are stored in the boot, both of
which appear to be new, the hood currently fitted being damaged in places.
20 old MOTs from 1995 – 2018 imply that it has
been in regular use throughout that time although they all record the same
mileage of 32,299 so the true mileage is unknown.
As you can see in the photos, the car looks most attractive and has
been starting promptly and running well as we have moved it around on site, with
good 55psi oil pressure. We did note a clonking noise from the rear of the car
when reversing which the vendor believes to be caused by worn propshaft UJs so
this will obviously merit some attention.
